Sodium Hypochlorite Continuous Process Systems

Advantage

Powell's continuous sodium hypochlorite process system, also known as a bleach plant, is designed to produce sodium hypochlorite with higher efficiency and quality than previously obtained by batch or continuous methods.

The process, which uses liquid or vapor and caustic chlorine, is versatile and has the design capacity to produce any concentration of sodium hypochlorite solution from 20 to 200 grams per liter of available chlorine.

The bleaching plant is built with high-quality components to ensure a long service life with minimal maintenance. Also, no mechanical refrigeration is required to cool the process. Titanium plate heat exchangers use water from a cooling tower to cool the process. The unit is housed in a structural steel frame so it can be fully fabricated in our factory and easily shipped as a complete unit to your site.

The continuous process system also eliminates the need for mechanical cooling that is normally required when bleach is produced by other methods. The system uses water from the cooling tower for cooling, resulting in considerable energy savings, lower equipment costs, and lower maintenance costs.

Powell continuous sodium hypochlorite process systems can be designed to use liquid chlorine or pressurized dry vapor or wet vapor chlorine from electrolytic cells.

Electrolytic Cell Wet Vapor Chlorine

This system uses wet vapor chlorine directly from the electrolytic cells. Standard systems are designed to produce concentrations of 125 to 200 grams per liter of available chlorine at production rates of 40 to 150 gallons per minute, which is equivalent to 50 to 200 STPD of chlorine. More on wet steam chlorine bleach plants.

Liquid Chlorine Bleaching Plant or Dry Steam

This bleach plant is available in two designs:

uses pressurized dry steam chlorine

or use pressurized dry liquid chlorine.

Standard systems are designed to produce concentrations of 20 to 200 grams per liter of available chlorine at production rates of 25 to 150 gallons per minute, which is equivalent to 30 to 200 STPD of chlorine. More about dry liquid or vapor system bleaching plants

Produce high quality sodium hypochlorite

The Powell Sodium Hypochlorite Filter System provides the highest quality sodium hypochlorite available on the market and can be used with any quality caustic to produce sodium hypochlorite that can be packaged for the domestic market using sealed bottles, the industry drinking water or any other required application.

Emergency valve closing systems

Powell is the only manufacturer to offer both electric and pneumatic emergency shutdown systems for chlorine and other dangerous compressed gas cylinders and container sizes, including 150 lb cylinders, ton containers, 90 ton rail cars, bullet tanks and rail cars. railway. The systems can be configured to close valves in seconds in the event of a gas leak, movement of a car or container, security breach, fire alarm, seismic event, or many other circumstances.

Powell Emergency Valve Shutoff Systems are the most durable emergency shutoff systems available anywhere. Before any Powell system was released, it first underwent extensive and comprehensive durability testing. click here for more information

ORP electrodes (direct immersion)

Powell ORP electrodes (also known as oxidation reduction potential electrodes) are suitable for many ORP applications, including the following:

Automatically determine how much chlorine to add to a caustic solution to produce sodium hypochlorite.

Neutralize a sodium hypochlorite solution with hydrogen peroxide or sodium sulfite.

Measure the amount of chlorine in a brine solution.

Powell Has The Best ORP Technology - Years Of Proven Service

Powell's Oxidation Reduction Potential (ORP) electrode uses platinum for the measurement electrode and silver for the reference electrode. The unit has proven itself over many years of service in the chlorine scrubbing, sodium hypochlorite production, chlorine neutralization, and ferric bleach and chloride industries and is suitable for use in any halogen chemical service, including scrubbers, tanks neutralization and dosing tanks. Powell ORP electrodes are available for pipe sizes from 1 "to 18", are known for their long life, and have been designed for easy installation and maintenance.

Powell technology has been successfully applied to chlorine washing for more than 40 years. Chlor-alkali production plants such as Occidental Chemical and Olin Chemical in the United States, Sasol LTD in South Africa, Orica in Australia, Carbochlor in Brazil, Occidental in Chile and many others around the world use proprietary Powell ORP electrodes for this application.

Chemical dilution systems

Powell dilution systems are designed for continuous dilution and mixing of multiple feedstock streams. Precise control provides accurate and repeatable results even when mixing complex recipes. Systems can be operated to produce specific batch quantities or run continuously on demand.

Tank truck loading and top-of-the-line bottling tanks are other common applications of dilution systems.

Dilution systems can range in size from compact stand-alone systems to skid-mounted systems with integrated heat exchangers.

Production capacities can range from several gallons per minute to several hundred gallons per minute of product.

Systems can work based on volume measurement. For greater precision and repeatability, density and mass flow measurements are used.

Materials of construction are project and chemical specific and may (for example) include socket welded polyethylene pipe, threaded carbon steel pipe, 150 # flanged Teflon lined steel pipe, or 316 stainless steel pipe. butt welded.

An Allen-Bradley control system is supplied with a color display for the HMI (Human Machine Interface) for an operator to view critical process data. This information can be easily networked to other Powell equipment control systems using several common protocols.

A variety of control system alarms are provided to ensure product quality is not compromised due to a low flow condition.

Pressure and flow instrumentation, control valves, and heat exchangers can be provided from a variety of manufacturers to meet the specifications of your existing plant.

Upon request, Powell can supply a broadband or telephone modem as part of the control system that allows remote access to Powell to schedule updates when needed.

Complete dilution system packages can include feedstock supply pumps, motor starters, cooling water systems, network communications, and automation for multiple storage tanks, including guided radar level gauges and automated fill valves. This optional remote mount equipment, when combined with Powell's advanced programming techniques, allows for uninterrupted product flow.

Powell dilution systems are shipped fully assembled and programmed after being electrically and hydrostatically tested with water by a Powell craftsman at our facility.

A comprehensive operation and maintenance manual is provided that includes complete electrical prints and programming logic.
